Blades

Always have a spare set of blades with on a fishing trip, it could save the weekend.  Depending on ice conditions one hole can stop an auger from drilling.  Try to avoid dirt, tire tracks or old holes.  They may contain dirt, rocks or sand that can affect blade performance.

If your auger “freezes” or “ loads up” with ice on the cutting head (bottom of auger) it’s time for new blades irregardless of the number of holes drilled or apparent blade conditions.
